At a pub called Blarney Stone, just outside Ramstein, Germany, Luke went out with teammates as his American Football season came to a close. Twenty feet away, Leah sat with her colleagues unwinding after a long week at work. After spending the entire evening there, they each left. Heading their separate ways, they never exchanged a single word. Fate had decided they weren't quite ready.

3 years later, Luke and Leah, still having never met, searched for a way to pass time. As fate would have it, they would both download a mobile game called Whiteout Survival within a day of each other. After being randomly added to the same server, they would join the same alliance, BMW, and meet for the first time as Precog and Lord Legion.

Learning how to play the game together, they grew stronger and became friends. They quickly outgrew their original alliance and were recruited into Gremlins, prompting them to connect on Discord with other members. With that, Legion's veil fell and Precog learned that his friend was not actually a Lord, but a Lady.

As their friendship grew, the names Precog and Legion faded. Video games soon expanded to football games, help with homework, a voice of reason, a source of strength. Neither of them could go more than an hour without contact, and with a little help from a furry escape artist named Duke, Luke and Leah began to date.

Daily video chats and texting became a way of life. They would spend every moment they could talking. Getting to know more about each other. But a relationship 5,157 miles apart can only go so far. So, Luke and Leah made plans to finally meet in person at the very place they had narrowly missed each other nearly 4 years ago. Ramstein, Germany. As you can probably guess, things went quite well.

At the end of their Germany trip, both Luke and Leah wished they were able to extend the getaway. With an upcoming deployment, they knew if they didn't reunite soon it would be 9 months until they could meet again. So as soon as he got home, Luke booked his flight to the US where he would meet Leah's daughter for the first time. Food, fun, and laughter were prevalent during the carnival rides, trip to Lake Tahoe, and many movie nights on the couch. After two wonderful weeks, the fun would unfortunately come to an end as all three were forced to go their separate ways - one to remain in California, one off home to the UK, and one to the desert.

Sand, sun, and surprise! - more video calls. The lovely aroma of long distance relationships resurfaced... with the scent of camel laced in for good measure. While being in closer time zones made communicating much easier, it didn't ease the sting of being yet again separated. Luke and Leah understood that the future of their relationship would require a sacrifice.

Taking into consideration careers, families, and future growth - Luke made the difficult decision that it would be better if that sacrifice was his. Together they would begin the long, confusing, arduous process of immigration. Fun fact: they naively believed the process would be complete in just a couple months. They would soon learn just how wrong they were. But, through all the frustration and impatience, one thing never changed - their determination to see it through.

What better way to celebrate the end of desert heat and sun than to visit the UK? On her way back from the middle east, Leah made a pit stop to Coventry. It was her first ever trip to the country, so there was a lot to accomplish but the top priority - meet the family. Family dinners, quiet sitting room meetings, pubs - because obviously - , and one very special trip to an old cathedral later... Luke and Leah were now engaged.

As the days of waiting for Luke to be approved to move to the US dragged on, another trip to Coventry was planned... but this time with a plus one. If you ask the little one, this trip is still her favorite memory.

FINALLY! Over 2 years after meeting, Luke moved to the US and they got to begin their lives as a family. They wasted no time catching up on the things they had missed out on - hikes, picnics, dinner dates, fairs - anything and everything they had been waiting so long to be able to do.

Due to visa requirements, Luke and Leah officially became husband and wife on September 9th, 2025. While it was a happy day, the presence of the family and friends that supported them throughout the long process was sorely missed. So...
